Advice please! Judgement from non-parents

Rebecca • expecting baby #1 due 09.13.2018

I am pregnant with my first baby. I expected friendships to change and things to be different. I have one friend, who graduated college with an early childhood education degree 5 years ago who hasn't used that degree ever.

It seems more and more that we are butting heads. My husband opened his own business 1 year ago. Money is tight. My friends sister has 2 kids and has offered lots of hand-me-downs. I am all about reduce, reuse, recycle but I also know I have a lot of folks who want to buy stuff for the new baby. I have said yes to several items from her sister but when offered a pack in play this morning when I responded that I wanted to wait bc used baby stuff can be sticky and just rough and I wanted to see if I got something new first my friend scoffed and explained everyone she knew who was on a budget took this stuff cleaned plastic and tore off nasty cloth parts.

I am just so tired of being judged and told I am making wrong choices from someone who isn't a parent, has not been pregnant, isn't close to being pregnant. Am I totally over reacting? is this normal? I dont want to lose a dear friend, how do you cope with this?!
