When should first prenatal visit happen???

I’m so upset because my OB/GYN who I am so comfortable and happy with and have seen for about 4 years is NO LONGER doing OB...😡 
I called the OB who they suggested for me and they told me my first appt will be at 8-10 weeks and my appt is currently for when I am 10 weeks. 
I feel like 10weeks is sooo late! I’ve seen ultrasound pictures of 6w! 
Should I seek a new OB or is this normal???

Absolutely normal. When people are seen really early they more often than not don’t have a heartbeat on ultrasound or other issues that cause unnecessary stress. By 8-10 weeks you avoid these issues and when you see baby on US with a heartbeat at this stage you have a less than 3% chance of miscarriage. 
It sounds really harsh, but if you are going to miscarry before this stage, seeing your OB earlier doesn’t change anything. Early miscarriages are almost always due to chromosomal abnormalities and your OB can’t do anything to prevent or stop it from happening. If you are concerned about ectopic you can ask for serial HCGs to make sure things are doubling appropriately, but you won’t need to be seen to do that

Absolutely normal my doctor doesn’t see people until they 8-12 weeks along and that’s  standard.

My doctor does a confirmation of pregnancy 5-8 weeks and an ultrasound at 10. Then you hear the heartbeat on a Doppler at 14. At 20-22 you have another ultrasound for the anatomy scan!

I had my pregnancy confirmed by blood at 4 weeks and then where I’m from your first OB/midwife appointment is not till 16 weeks unless there is a concern or you are high risk.

Totally normal. Most won't see you until you are almost out of your first trimester. I had to have a cerlage at twelve weeks exactly so I saw mine earlier. Trust me you don't want a six week ultrasound. There is nothing to see and you can't hear the heartbeat. This is what mine looked like...
