Co-sleeping.... don’t freak out!!
Hi all!
So to make a long story short, my LO (almost 3 weeks old) has his days and nights mixed up really bad. (Somehow this happened while in the womb and while I don’t understand how because I had a very strict sleeping schedule, he’s managed to mix up his days and nights). Basically he’ll sleep on and off during the day and then around 11pm-12am I’ll nurse him and he’ll fall asleep. I’ll hold him for a bit and around 1am I’ll try to lay him down in his bassinet for bedtime, because I really wanna fix my sleep back to how it was. After about thirty minutes or so he’ll spit his pacifier out in his sleep and get mad, which then leads to him waking up all mad and grumpy and will not for the life of anything go back to sleep unless he is beside me and cuddled up to me, or if his daddy holds him and walks around.
I feel bad that he’s been sleeping in the bed with us. Usually he’ll hold out until about 4am and then his crying becomes constant to the point that we have no other option to turn to. I’ve had several people tell me babies love our body heat and love being close to us, but I’ve also had my mom and several others tell me that we have to make him sleep in his bassinet.
I’m just wondering, how many of you moms have had to result to letting your baby sleep with you so you can get sleep?
I really want him to learn to sleep in his bassinet, but right now I just don’t see it being possible until he’s older and learns to sleep on his own... any advice is welcome and would surely be appreciated!
