Is it normal to not talk at the end of the day?

Is it normal for my s/o to just text goodnight instead of calling? I don’t know what I should expect in a long distance relationship like this.

My SO was like this at the very beginning and for the first few months and it really bothered me. I didn't necessarily expect a call every night but more than just a goodnight. It seemed short to me. I explained that it bothered me a bit and since we couldn't be together at night I really wanted a bit more. We text for awhile after dinner, take a shower at the same time, do our nighttime ritual that would make most gag I imagine and then say goodnight. He actually gets upset now when we can't have our usual goodnight together 😊

Depends on your relationship. I feel like calling would be more meaningful if you don’t see eachother, but don’t take the texting as a bad sign
