Is getting the rod a good idea?

Question

Please share some stories or experiences you or someone u know has had with the rod. Pros and cons, i’m still deciding if i should get the rod or the marina. 
Thoughts would be much appreciated xx

I bled the entire time I was on it and for a month afterwards. I had extreme mood swings to the point that no one wanted to be near me and ultimately broke up my relationship I was in at the time. I called my doctor a few times and she just told me I needed to give it time. I became suicidal and called and told them if they didn’t get it out of me I was going to chop it out myself with a steak knife. Two of my friends have had it with the mood swing issue as well and the absurd bleeding. For me the trade off of not having to take a pill everyday wasn’t worth it at all and personally I wouldn’t recommend it.

I'm terrified of getting an IUD put in and all of the potentially horrible outcomes, so when I decided it was time for a change after nine years on the pill, I went with the implant.
It's been interesting. The first month was hell in terms of side effects. Swollen, sore breasts, acne, weight loss, mood swings, stomach problems...but all of that subsided after 3 weeks or so. I still have slightly worse acne than I did on the pill but I can live with it.
My bleeding has definitely been irregular. Two months off, then a normal period, then a month later almost a month straight of bleeding, and now I'm "eight days late" again. But I'm not experiencing debilitating cramps like I did before birth control and my sex drive is unaffected, which were the two most important things to me. So I'm sticking with it and sort of just hoping my periods either regulate or go away completely.

Is getting the rod a good idea?
