Financial frustration!!

Just need to vent 😒 my stepdaughter is 14 and mom and dad share custody, but she ends up staying with me and dad about 80 percent of the time. We pay ( I PAY) for her insurance (health dental and vision) since I have the best insurance out of the 3 of us. My husband and I make decent money and don’t mind at all buying her new clothes, paying for school fees, clubs, yearbook etc. But now, kiddo needs $350 PLUS spending money for a summer trip with an academic club. Mom is ALWAYS telling her to ask me and dad for the money for EVERYTHING. Her excuse is that she’s always “broke”, but drives a brand new car, always has her hair and nails done, always showing off her flashy new purchases etc. Is it wrong of me to expect her to step up and help out financially?! I have been trying SO hard to save money so my husband and I can build our dream home and it seems every time we get some savings going, she needs a chunk of money and mom contributes NOTHING!

Dad doesn’t want kiddo to miss out on anything, which I understand. But we can’t afford to keep footing the bill for all these extracurricular and get ZERO help from mom. My opinion is that kiddo needs to EARN some money and mom needs to contribute but he won’t put his foot down with the situation. 😒🤦🏼‍♀️ so annoyed!
