Nathaniel? (No nickname)

Kinda worried people will shorten it... but I want him to be called Nathaniel. (he can shorten when he’s older if he wants) Any middle name suggestions?

I like the name, but it's likely people will shorten it. Also, once he's older he himself may prefer it shortened. You can't really force him to call himself Nathanial if he'd rather be called Nate. Just my thoughts.

Like the name but that was always my fear (and ultimately why I went with names that couldn't be shortened into nicknames). I always loved Joshua but hated Josh; even if i kept family from calling him by Josh I thought kids in elementary and onward would shorten it.

I think its a lovely name. Go for it! Correct people if they shorten it. I was worried about this happening with my daughter Annabelle, so far I've had a few people ask can they call her Belle and I just say no, I don't like nicknames. Hopefully he'll like his name enough to continue to use the full version into childhood and adulthood. All we can do is hope though 🤷🏻‍♀️
