What do navy sailors do?

My boyfriend really wants to be a sailor and he seems a little uneducated about it. Does anyone know how long they would be deployed for or what is it like? Thank you

it depends on what your job is, where you're stationed out of, if you're on Shore Duty or sea Duty, there's a lot that goes into determining how long are deployments are, he could even go on to a pre commissioned ship where it would be more waiting around and then sporadic sea trials. if he wants more information there are tons of websites out there but I think he would need to narrow down what type of job he wants to do and that would give him a better idea of what he can expect.

My hubs & I spent a couple hours researching jobs on their website so he had an idea of what he wanted to try to do before he enlisted. I would suggest starting there.
