Breastfeeding all of a sudden super painful

Hi ladies! My little guy is 14 months and we’ve been nursing this whole time. All of a sudden it’s super painful to the point where I can’t stand feeding him for more than a few minutes at a time on either side and can’t stand having a bra even touch them. My nipples feel super sore/bruised and it extends into the bottom of my breast (a hot shooting pain like someone is pouring a hot liquid down it). My nipples appear normal (not flakey, cracked or red) and there’s no white spots in LOs mouth so I’m thinking it’s not thrush (though I’ve never had it to truly know). He is teething but would that cause such intense pain? I honestly can’t stand the thought of continuing to breastfeed through this, it’s so incredibly painful.
