Birth certificate advice? So confused now!

I’m asking regarding to the situation that I am going through atm. I am giving birth soon, and i don’t want the father of my child, name to be on the birth certificate, but apparently I don’t have a choice but to put his name on the baby’s birth certificate, is that true? Cause he threatened to kill the child. And wants to have the power of the baby to take it off me.

When I had my son I skipped the page about the father and told them it was a one night stand. His father was in jail at the time. You don’t have to put anyone as the father on the birth certificate. It’s your choice not theirs. If u need to put ur mom or someone you trust.

In most cases in order to be on the birth certificate he needs to be present at birth and show an ID. However you can get around this even if he does show up and you don’t want him there. Talk to your doctor about getting a security code or password or make a list of people allowed in, in order for people to visit you or be present during labor. This is what I am doing in order to keep some of my psychotic family away from my daughter. But you can always say his/her father said they wouldn’t like to be on the birth certificate since they have no intentions on being present in the child’s life. That will surely keep them from pressing anymore questions. Good luck

It doesn’t seem like it can be a requirement - what if you didn’t know who the father was? If you have any trouble with this, maybe tell them that?

If you’re married, most states out the husband in birth certificate regardless. Even if you’re separated, you don’t have a choice. If not married, he has to be on for sake of parental rights to include child support. But if not married, it’s up to you!

Don’t let him sign the birth certificate!! Where I️ live they physically have to be at the hospital and show id and everything to sign.. I don’t know about there though.. but if he threatened to kill the baby don’t put his information down!

If you go into labour, don’t tell him. Tell him once the baby has been delivered & the birth certificate has been filled out & filed.
