Induction or no induction ?

I saw my doc for my weekly appointment and said I’m measuring 5cm (I’m 39 weeks) Last week Wed I was at 4cm and he was certain I would go into labor over the weekend. Well, here I am... no baby and haven’t felt any real contractions besides the occasional Braxton Hicks. He mentioned if I wanted to be induced on Friday because he wasn’t sure I would progress naturally and baby will be on the bigger side. Anyone gone through this before? By the looks of it, I’m preparing to go past my due date but I’m also afraid I am risking having an emergency c section if she’s too big ☹️

Just an update. Water broke yesterday and gave birth this morning @4:46am. We had a healthy baby girl weighing 7 lbs 8 ounces.

I was hanging out at 4 cm for a couple weeks before my daughter came. Went in to get induced but they broke my water instead. She came 2.5 hours later. She was 7lb 12oz and six days late so she wasn't super big and came pretty fast. Maybe ask if they can break your water instead.

I wouldn’t worry about the weight they say! My girl was 8lbs aparantly she was born a few days later 5lb5🤷🏼‍♀️ wow 5cms! In the uk 4cms is active labour!

For me the answer would be no induction. Your forcing a baby out who’s not ready. Ultrasound measurements a lot of the time are wayyyy off, so it doesn’t mean you’ll for sure have a big baby. I personally haven’t been induced,  but have heard a lot of stories of women who have terrible labor when being induced. For me I’d avoid it at all costs. Your already 5cm , your likely to go into full labor soon anyways.

This is what I went through with my doc. I was only dilated to 1-2 cm and she was certain I wouldn’t make anymore progression so at my 40 week appt, we scheduled the induction for that same night. Our little one wasn’t born until the next evening via emergency csection but my experience was still pretty easy going. They inserted 1/4 of a tablet of cytotec vaginally and then my body took over on its own. Would’ve been able to deliver vaginally if the birth canal wasn’t too narrow for my daughter to have fit through but either way, I was very pleased with the overall experience!

i wouldnt i would let my body do its thing but its a personal decision. have you tried pumping?

So, I am dilated to a 1. Haha My cervix is thinned to 50% (from 15%). Atley is head down, face down, again...where she needs to be. I forget what she said her head was at...not quite low enough, but on her way down/out.  She said my cervix is favorable for an induction. I was afraid to commit to anything. I asked if I could wait until after my appointment Tuesday. I will have another stress test, ultrasound to check Atley's weight and she will check me. They guessed her to be 6 lbs 10 oz last week.
Then, I have to decide...
1)  Planned Induction where they put the pill in, called Cyotec. (I just read a lot of scary stuff about that drug.😳) It is used a lot, however.
2) I can have her strip my membranes to try and encourage labor that way.
I am conflicted. I really wanted to try and go on my own. She said I have a lot of risk factors...advanced maternal age, GDM, I take Metoprolol. I still feel like if I haven't had issues , those are just factors to be considered.
But...my diet controlled sugars have been great, my blood pressure has been perfect, I haven't had any other issues...I have had an easy, normal pregnancy. I am 39 weeks Monday. She acted like I shouldn't go past that.
She wasn't pushing me to do anything, but I don't know what is best for me.

Wow im very similar - first they said I won’t go ost my due date so I have that in my head well there is 1 day to go and im not feeling any signs! At 39 weeks they said it was my choice to have an induction but I’d need to wait a week for them to fit me in so I decided to wait for my due date to see what would happen (nothing yet) I would prefer to keep waiting but I don’t wnat to not go by their advice too if I’d need to have a csection

Have had your membrane scraped I would try that first and see what happens!
