Such a scary morning! Owlet is SO WORTH IT!

My son has worn an Owlet monitor since he was 2 months and is now 7 months. At this point, since SIDS risks are so low and he's so big I never would have thought we'd get a notification.

We do bedshare. I know it's controversial, and I'm not here for a lecture on that. We bedshare out of necessity, not choice. He is in the process of being transitioned to a crib and this incident with undoubtedly speed that along.

This morning we got our first red notification. I was in a "twilight sleep" right next to my son and he had fallen asleep while breastfeeding so he was against my breast with his face slightly tilted towards the mattress. I was jolted awake by a loud alarm and realized it was the Owlet. His O2 was below 80%. I immediately moved and rolled him onto his back, and it rose instantly.

I had NO IDEA of the danger he was in when those levels dropped and he hadn't stirred at all. I don't want to think about what could have happened if he were not wearing his Owlet.

Since he began using it over 5 months ago we have never had a false notification so I know this was a real one. My heart is still racing.

I truly cannot recommend this device enough, especially to those who bedshare.

We purchased it on the monthly payment plan but I know there's also refurbished ones available if money is an issue.

I just wanted to make this post so everyone knows how wonderful these little devices are and in hopes that it might save a life.
