Should i tell him?

Hello everyone! This is my first post so I’m gonna try my best.

So me and this guy from my old school have been liking each other for maybe two years now. We would text each other every day and it felt like we were a couple and thats how we acted but we never specified it. I do not live where he lives anymore i moved to a different state. So we were both really excited to see each other when we did. Then the next day i was talking to my other friend about it and she said HE HAS A GIRLFRIEND. I was heartbroken and didn’t know what to do. I really like this guy but I’m afraid to tell him. Should i tell him? I don’t want to ruin his relationship but i feel like this ruined our friendship.
