How old is too old for newborn pics?

My baby girl with be 1 month old on Saturday and I feel horrible for not getting any professional photos or any hand/foot castings done yet 🙁, she was born prematurely so we had to stay in hospital for a week and the last two weeks I've been trying to adjust to becoming a mum and my partner has been working full on AND also still trying to get the final touches on everything because we didn't get to before she came.. I'm looking up newborn pics and I'm seeing 5 days old and really early and I feel horrible because I was still in hospital at 5 days and ugh do you know someone or have you had 'newborn photos' done late? I feel so shit! But here's a pic of my beautiful daughter ❤️

We had them taken at a month old and a few days. She was born 3 weeks and 2 days early. I'm still glad we got them done. She only weight 5.5lbs at birth. She was so tiny and fragile. I'm glad we waited.

Usually it's 5-14 days. But considering she is a preemie find a photographer and inquire about it. They may still do it considering she is tiny.

Photographers usually wanna do them before they turn 12 days old, that’s cuz it’s easier for the photographer to pose them. But that doesn’t mean u can’t get them done still. I’ve seen newborn sessions where the baby was a little older

You can still have photos done. But photographers typically to newborn photos in the first 2 weeks. So you won't be booking a newborn session. You'll be booking a standard portrait session. But to be honest, I'd much rather have regular photos as opposed to the super cheesy newborn photos some women seem to love. I'm very fortunate to have had a photography business at one point so I did my daughter's photos herself. No weird poses and tutus and all those other horrible props. Just us and our daughter in her nursery in a real, lifestyle setting. I highly recommend finding a good lifestyle photographer and doing it that way!

We won’t be getting ours until 3 weeks old. He’s a wiggle worm tho so I don’t think it would have mattered. I’m going to take a bottle and such. A previous poster provided some good tips in going to try those too

I did my newborn photos at almost 1 month.   It was definitely harder to get some of the more traditional poses.  But my dad had a massive heart attack and had to have a quadruple bypass right after my daughter was born!   The photos still came out adorable and totally worth it!

I literally just did my newborn photos. Getting use to being a mommy took time. Especially breastfeeding. But she did great! Just make sure you do these:
1. Feed her before going 
2. Make sure the room is warm 
3. Loosen her diaper so indentation don’t show
And I personally gave her a bedtime bath with the purple Johnson body wash to make her even more tired to help through the session. 
She was officially a month when I did mine.

Before 2 weeks is best because after that their bones harden and it’s so much harder to get them in nice poses. They are also no longer in that super sleepy all the time stage and are harder to work with. I think you can definitely still get pictures done, but maybe not the traditional poses.
