progesterone shots? Preterm labor risk

Im pregnant and have had 3 preemies. My doc said that I have a very high risk of preterm labor. He is trying to get me to at least 34 weeks. I’m currently 6 weeks and he has started me on progesterone shots weekly. Has anyone had experience with these? I didn’t have them in my previous pregnancy. What are side effects like and experiences?

Hey! Even I have a high risk pregnancy.. this is my first.. and even ive been taking progesterone shots every week since I was 6 weeks... currently I’m 20 weeks! From this week onwards my shots will be administered every 15 days. I also had a cervical cerclage at 19 weeks.. due to an incompetent cervix

I started mine at 16 weeks as well. My first was a 24 weeker. At first the shots were sore at the site and made me really sleepy for the rest of the day. Then one got injected too high and hurt like hell. Now I break out in an eczema rash after each one 🤷🏻‍♀️. Not exactly fun, but I’m 23 weeks now, so whatever keeps him in!  It really depends on the nurse that gives them. Some are great, some not so much.

I am on them also started at 16 weeks. had my son at 30 weeks they don't know what caused the labor but hopefully the shots keep this littke guy in. they hurt and burn so bad to me but will do anything to keep little guy in there.

I️ have been taking the shot since 16 weeks but it didn’t help for me. My cervix started to thin at 21 weeks and had to get a stitch put I️n. I️ still take the shots with the stitch and I’m 35 weeks today!

I take the injections once a week. I started at 16 weeks. I had a preemie the first time around. The side effects were terrible in the beginning. I would get raised itchy skin and my whole butt cheek would get an orange peel consistency to it. Blech. But the last couple shots I got, I think my body is finally excepting the fact that they are a thing now. Lol I’m sore at the injection sight for a couple days, then it fades. The things we do for only a CHANCE of keep our little one in longer.

I was on the Makenna shots from 16 weeks till I gave birth. They didn't help prevent preterm labor for me. I actually went into ptl earlier this time than I did with my first when I wasn't on anything to prevent ptl.

Hi, I’m on progesterone capsules currently and dr said at 12 weeks he’ll take me off of them. I’m a bit worried when they take me off of it. Curious to see why you are getting shots so late in pregnancy so I can ask my dr?

Wow 😮 you have started to take the the shot much earlier then I’ve heard of. I am also on the shot, started at 16 weeks. I’ve had 10 shots in total. The first few made me more emotional then usual but I think my body has gotten used to them now. I really have no side effects except soreness in the shot area for a few days following. Hopefully these weekly injections help keep the baby in for longer. Fingers, toes and body crossed.
