Should fake caller ID apps be legal?
In case you’re not familiar.... you can use these apps to make it appear as if someone besides your number is calling. It is used often by scammers, my husband received a phone call from “PayPal” yesterday for example. It makes it easy for them to trick people. Obviously he didn’t give any information, but I imagine it may work on others.
However, there are legitimate reasons to use this app. For example, you’re calling a client off your personal cell phone, but want to make it look like the call is coming from your main office.
Or do you think people should just use common sense and we don’t need any laws restricting this?
