Did dr lie to me?

Question

I went to the dr to get some bumps near my vagina checked out and the doctor said it was a skin infection and nothing bad. I picked up the medication he prescribed and on the instructions it says it’s for genital warts.... did the dr lie to me? did he sugar coat it so he won’t tell me the bad news that I have genital warts? I’m so confused. I left the appointment happy because he said it wasn’t anything bad but now I’m seeing this and I’m about to get depressed again.

Medications can be used for multiple purposes. If he said it was benign, it is. Unless he’s a psychopath and enjoys lying to patients, he’d have no reason to lie to you.

Update: so I’ve done more and more research and I found the medication works for a skin infection called Molluscum Contagiosum! I feel a little better lol but thanks for all the insights ladies 👏🏻

Not only would it be unethical & unprofessional, but it’s also illegal for a doctor to lie to u about a diagnosis. So, I’m gonna say no, he didn’t lie. I mean, what purpose would he have to lie? Like another person said, a lot of medications can be used for various things. When I was having dental work done, my dentist put me on a couple antibiotics & one of them is typically used for treating an STD as well.

if you are afraid of hurting the doctors feelings request your medical records on a disk or paper and read the results yourself or have the medical records transferred to another doctor so they can further assess your situation. it's your health, dont ever bite your tongue when it comes to your health .

I highly doubt your doctor would like about something like that. I tend to get warts on my hands and legs and i’m often prescribed genital wart cream. i think it’s just a stronger prescription. I wouldn’t worry about it, but if you’re stressed out about it, it wouldn’t hurt to get a second opinion. :)

Medications have many uses besides what they were originally created for. I find the best source for drug information is drugs.com. I dont know why a doctor would not tell you if you have genital warts... if you do find out that's the case I would seek a different doctor in the future.

I wouldn’t assume that just yet do some online research on the medicine it may have more than one use. I don’t think a medical professional can lie about something like that .they would have to disclose that information because it has to be reported to the cdc.
