So I've been told from family members and others that in early pregnancy men can get symptoms such as flu like symptoms, nausea, etc. before even finding out their other half is pregnant. What do you believe?

True. When i was pregnant with my 1st daughter my ex would wake up in the mornings for work and i could hear him throwing up in the restroom. After him it was my turn lol.

I don't think it's true. It's the women who has hormone changes not the man. Once you find out it's possible he stressed himself out to being sick. Or he is just sick. My husband has not acted any different during my pregnancy.
