Why keep the baby in parents room?

I’m just curious more than anything. Why does everyone plan on keeping their baby in their own bedroom at the start, versus keeping the baby in their room/crib from the beginning? As a first time mom maybe I’m missing something. I do plan on breastfeeding and we have a comfortable chair set up in the nursery. Please share your thoughts!

Beside the fact that we live in a one bedroom, I would still have her in our room if we didnt. Because I'm planning on breastfeeding. Because I would be worried about her the whole time if she wasn't near me. Because I want to watch her and make sure she's breathing. Because if she wakes up or is crying I don't want her to be alone, and I'm lazy so I'll be missing enough sleep with out having to get out of bed to go check her. Basically for convenience. It makes it world's easier, and because I'm a worrier and don't want a tiny newborn that far away or sleeping alone when she has never been alone in her life.

Yes decreases risk of SIDS if baby is in the same room.. also for convenience if baby is close to ur bed and your breast feeding you can just pick up baby and put them on the breast then back to bed when done with ease.. and for some It’s just easier our bedroom is upstairs and baby’s room is downstairs so that would be a pain if baby was downstairs by herself from the get go and it makes me a little nervous so juts makes more sense to have her in our room by us for awhile..

I plan on keeping my son in my room. I will be having a c-section so having baby close is easier for me than having to walk to his room to breastfeed.

This is my second baby and though I totally intend on moving his new baby again around 3-4mos to their own room, keeping them in your room in the beginning definitely decreases the risk of sids. I don’t breastfeed but also agree it also makes ease of nighttime changes and feedings much easier. Lastly having our little boy sleeping in our room last time is a huge reason why we were able to figure out how bad he was digesting his formula and he needed a change. His belly made so many noises at night and he was very clearly uncomfortable and he didn’t show as extreme signs during the day. We were able to switch his formula and he was comfortable and sleeping through the night by 8wks!

I don’t have the convenience of space so my babies 2.5yo and newborn will be in my room. To me it’s like a momma bird watching over her baby birds. Plus, I personally don’t like the idea of a nursery and all that jazz. Once they get to about 5, I set them up in their own room. It’s like a rights of passage to me and by that time they’re so excited to do things themselves and think having their very own bedroom is so cool

Reduces SIDS plus it just made more sense since I was always checking for breathing & making sure they didn't roll over or spit up, if they're crying you can soothe them right there.. it just makes it easier.. I had my son in a bassinet right beside me until he was 4 months old, switched him to his crib in his room one night & he had no problems transitioning lol

My child is going to his room the day we bring him home 🤷🏼‍♀️ his room is all of 10 ft MAX from our bedroom door. Some people are comfortable with doing this, some aren’t. It’s really up to you and what your comfortable with.

I think it's really all about convenience. after giving birth your quiet tired and worn out with constantly being up to feed baby. so it's just really convenient to have baby so close

we co slept so I could sleep!!! and we just didnt have the extra room. A king sized bed prevented hubby from rolling so didnt have that worry. getting up every two hours to the crib is enough, but walking to another room sounds awful lol. and I have a hard time falling asleep without lying down, so a recliner would barely work for me. but if we had the extra room, I'd honestly do the same. co sleeping is amazing but also a hard habit to break.
