Skipping with birth control

I skipped my period for about 3 months by taking birth control back to back. I was having sex during that but was always careful. I have stoped taking the BC to get my period again last month about 3days in I had the dark discharge and that was what I expected. Now this month I am 2 days into not taking it and nothing yet. 2-3 days is normal for me, but I was just wondering if anyone else has done this and what there experience was when getting their period to come again every month.
