Am I in labor? Help!!

Question

Since yesterday morning I had really bad back pain along with mild cramping those lasted from around 7:30am - 10am then they went away and around 6:30pm they picked back up a little more intense and around 12am it got worse today around 6:30am they stopped I called my clinic to go in but they said to just go to the hospital I don’t want to make an unwanted trip to L&D; only to be sent home since as of right now I’m in little to no pain can some one please help me I am 37w4d

With my first I started having contractions at 35 weeks so I just thought it was BH, but they got to be so painful that I called my doc. She said to go to L&D; when they were 5 minutes apart for an hour straight and so painful that I couldn't walk or talk. Yikes! An hour after that I was like F it, this hurts so bad if this isn't the real thing then I don't want to experience the real thing lol. I called L&D; and told them we were on our way. I was 4 cm when I arrived and they confirmed they were real cobtractions. He was born a few hours later!

I had some that came and went,probably just BH, but better safe then sorry. L and D is used to getting people come in.

If it’s not consistent then most likely not labor probably Braxton Hicks and they are just becoming more frequent because ur getting close

My doctor told me to call in when the contractions are at least 5 min apart for an hour or if my water breaks. Before that they don’t really do much and don’t consider it active labor until that point. I know every place prob does it different but I hope it helps if you don’t want to waste a trip to the hospital only to be sent back home
