Scared for my husband’s immigration status
My husband and I did not know each other when he first came here from Italy. He came to visit some people who live (legally) here that are originally from his country. When his ESTA expired he decided to stay because we were in a relationship at that point and he wanted to be with me.
Currently, we are married and working with a lawyer to adjust his status. The lawyer feels confident but I still feel scared. The thought of him being denied and deported terrifies me.
We should be fine because he came to the country legally on an ESTA, he has no criminal background, and we have support to show we have a true marriage. With Trump in office and how strict immigration officers have become, I am worried we will have complications during our interview, whenever that is scheduled.
In addition, his father was diagnosed with cancer during his stay here in the US. He can not go back to visit him because if he does, he is faced with a 10 year bar and loses any chance of building a life with me in the US. To say the least, this situation has added more emotions and stress.
Just needed to vent about how I have been feeling emotionally. Please send good vibes 💕
