Having my first D&C done today. What should I expect?

Question

So I am 7 weeks pregnant to an empty gestational sac. At first they thought it was an ectopic pregnancy but turns out it isn’t. Sperm met the egg and fertilized, but nothing happened after that. I do have a gestacional sac in my uterus though which the doctor wants to take out. He suggested a D&C; and said I’d be under general anesthesia. I’m scared. What should I expect? Thank you.

I would wait to make sure that there is in fact no baby.. and then before DNC I would explore the option of the pill (misoprostol). I took the pill to help my body miscarry and it was the best decision I made! Basically no pain, little bleeding and everything was out. I would have needed a DNC if I didn’t pass everything, but I wanted to avoid it and the potential scar tissue which can affect conception later on

I had one in November 2016, same scenario as yours. It was scary since I was alone, they wouldn’t let my fiancé in, but the most pain is severe cramping and about 4 days after the procedure I had basically minor labor pains that was more like a severe period were the remaining blood and clots came out all at once so stay near your toilet. Don’t push yourself, physically I felt fine overall but emotionally take your time. 
Side note ask them to cover up the machine if you don’t want to see the graphics.

I’m no doctor, but I feel like they should wait a little longer to let your body take care of it?? If you conceived later than you thought it might not be developed enough yet to see a baby. Idk that’s just my gut feeling on the issue. Good luck

I had an emergency D&C; because i was losing too much blood while i was misscarrying and immediately after the procedure i felt 100 percent better (physically) i didnt bleed at all after

I had a D&C; in March (8 weeks). It wasn't bad, physically. Some cramping, I only bleed for 2 days. Didn't need the pain meds and the hospital staff made sure my SO was able to give me a kiss before I went into surgery and brought him back to me as soon as I was alert and they determined I was ok.
