Latch concerns
I stopped breastfeeding 72hrs after birth because my LO wasn't latching properly and he became dehydrated. He's 5 weeks and I've been exclusively pumping since the dehydration issue. We've been practicing latching for the last 2 weeks, while still pumping. I feel like he's a very shallow latcher and it worries me that he's not getting enough milk again. He never opens his mouth wide and I rarely hear a decent swallow. He's happy and alert when he's awake and not fussy, still getting around a dozen wet diapers and 2-3 poopie ones. He seems to want to eat sooner after breastfeeding. The last 2 or 3 days we've been dreamfeeding at night and I offer him 3-4 3oz bottles during the day. First bottle is between 8 and 10am and last bottle is between 10m and midnight. Any signs or tips that he is/isn't getting enough milk? Tips for his shallow latch? My nipples are killin' me!
