I think it’s pretty lame to name call during debating...it’s not significant and won’t do anything..I guess it’s probably more popular with troll culture than actual debating 🤦‍♀️.

It can be depending on context. 
“You seem to have more liberal views.” Is not uneducated. 
“You’re nothing but a snowflake liberal that’s continuing to ruin our planet with your bullshit liberal ideas.” Is uneducated and I unfortunately actually see insults of this context pretty often.

I don’t think it is offensive in most cases.. liberal and conservative are two ways of thinking or ways to categorize an opinion.. if you have liberal views, own them... I have a lot of conservative views and calling me a conservative isn’t an insult, it’s accurate 
What CAN be an insult is when one liberal or conservative view is blankety associated with ALL other extreme views.. I had a conversation once about taxes and tax reform and stated I had fiscally conservative views, and a poster on here said ‘so if you are a conservative you must support Trump who is a racist, so you’re probably racist too’... it was like woah! Way to assume wild extremism 🙄 ... using liberal or conservative to put words into people’s mouths is uneducated

No,  liberal is a word with a definition.
If I were to say “you sound pretty liberal”. That’s not an insult.
If I say “fucking liberal” that’s obviously insulting.
It’s like saying “you’re a woman” vs “woman, go make me a sandwich”
Words themselves aren’t the issue, it’s the context they are used in
