"On Your Side" Song Mini Controversy
This started with a discussion. If you haven't seen the music video, it's called On Your Side by The Veronicas. Note: Yes, I'm sure we all know videos music sometimes lack depth in favor of artistic value. We're ignoring that and over analyzing. Yes, we all know lyrics can easily have nothing to do with the song or everything, so we're not putting much emphasis on the lyrics.

In the video two women meet, start a relationship, one gets hurt in a fight and is given pain meds then apparently becomes addicted. Relationship takes a poor turn and the other woman finds out she's hoarding drugs and, go figure, leaves. The woman on drugs proceeds to try to commit suicide with said pills and the ex-SO conveniently comes back in at the right moment to save the other women who's on the floor. When I say "save" I mean them both crying on the shower floor because a small amount of spit that occurs due to the ex slapping her is supposed to be expelling the drugs assumedly.
The video ends there leaving it up to interpretation as to what will happen to these people, thus comes our controversy.
On one hand I'm sure a lot of people would like to think this couple got back together and/or worked out their issues. Maybe that was the message? Not to leave people behind who have a problem or not to leave a relationship at the first sign of trouble.

Then we have another hand. That this was a toxic relationship because the addict didn't appear try to stop her addiction after x amount of time, thus letting her relationship suffer willingly. Then when the relationship ends, she reacts with suicide. So the video depicts a woman getting trapped in a bad relationship due to threats of suicide. Third-ish opinion: she faked suicide because there was no visible vomit and she woke up quickly from her OD and people usually come back from that without a hospital stay.

What do you think? Woman failing to help her addicted partner get off drugs and bailing, making the suicide attempt her fault. -or- Woman getting trapped in her failed short-lived relationship? If neither of those was your first impression of what might happen to the couple, comment. And remember:
