Huge age gap

Just looking for different opinions and views, I’m 27and he is 42 but we love each other. When we are out together people always look and give weird looks. He and I joke it off but it does bother us. He says maybe they staring because he white and I’m black but I doubt it. I’ve had people ask me if he is my sugar daddy or I’m I going through a phase. We love each other and even my family and his family make jokes. His friend call me his trophy girl friend. Just looking for different opinions and views rather negative or positive we just want to know why in today’s world people find it unacceptable.
