Crying it out?

My LO is 8, almost 9 months. I've been trying to do the CIO because I don't have time to hold bub for the whole nap/ all night. How long is okay to let bub cry at one time? I know every one has a different view on the CIO method.. But the pediatrician said TWO HOURS was okay as long as I knew the crying wasnt for something else (i.e. diaper, food, gas..) Two hours???! I don't think that is healthy, for ANYONE. So I'm asking if you CIO what do you do? what schedule or routine do you use or go by. please help a FTM out

With my baby I would start with every few minutes and then progressively wait longer. So I would let him cry for 3 mind, go in check on him lay him back down, then after 5 mins, 10 mins, and so on. Eventually they do calm down and each night gets easier. There are some really great methods on line that can help. CIO doesn’t have to mean letting them cry alone for hours 😊

Whoa. Two hours seems awful! My understanding is that you’re supposed to go on and check on baby after 5 mins, then 10, then 15, etc. That way they don’t feel totally abandoned.

I'd find a new pediatrician. Yours sounds delusional. I have never and would never allow my daughter to cry it out for ANY length of time. But even going by the CIO method, I believe the longest you're supposed to go is 15 minutes. Absolutely no one should be allowing their poor baby to cry for 2 hours or anywhere close to 2 hours.

I did it when my son was 15 months and I let him cry 45 minutes for the first night before he fell asleep. that was the longest he cried. has your baby cried for two hours with no results? I would just setting. timer because when baby is crying 5 minutes can feel like 20 really fast.

We did increasing 5 min intervals. We rarely went past the 15 even in the beginning. So I knew if we hit 20 there was something up

Lately my 8 month old has been fighting all sleep, so I’ve been letting him cio. He cries for about 10-15 min and falls asleep. I feel like a horrible mom but idk what else to do.
