How to get over death of a loved one?

My dad has had cancer for over two years now. It spread and the doctors say he has around 2-5 months left. I’m 19. 
How do you deal with this? Any advice? It sucks

Make the most of the time you have left with him.  Then when he does eventually go, remember that there is no time stamp for grieving. There is no exact way to get over death other than to allow yourself that time to grieve.

For now make the most out of the time you have with him, be optimistic and love lots. In the future it will take some time to heal, always remember the good times and who he is. I personally believe he will always be with you and his soul will live on.

My mom died when I was younger. I’m going to be 25 next month and honestly time helps. You’ll have to keep yourself busy, vent to others, seek therapy if you want, etc just to get through the worst of it. But allow yourself to grieve! Start journaling. I used to write my mom letters and then burn them after she died. It felt therapeutic personally.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. Nothing will make it easier, but I would say cherish the time you have left with him. Spend all the time you can with him, let him know how much you love him. Take pictures, videos and record his voice. I lost my dad 3 weeks ago very suddenly and unexpectedly and even though i spent quite a bit of time with him recently it still doesnt feel like enough. One thing I wish I had is a recording of his voice. Find someone to talk to if you need to, don't keep it all bottled up inside. I dont know if you ever get over it, but I hope it hurts less with time ❤

I was in a similar situation with my mom, I’m 22 and she passed away last month. Everyone griefs differently, I thought I would be bed sick, depressed and unable to move but I’ve handled it pretty well. Don’t get me wrong, it’s hard, something like that will always be but my best advice is to treasure the memories, take videos, take pictures, I knew my mom didn’t have a lot of time left and I still didn’t take as much as I should have. Get him to read a childhood book and record it so you can show your grandchildren - I was meaning to do that and never got around and regret it so much. Always tell him you love him, and when the time comes, surround yourself with friends and family; give yourself time to cry, it won’t feel real, I just try to keep myself busy to be honest, so I don’t have to think about it. Also being out in the sun and trying to breathe in the nature and life around. My siblings are 11, 13 and 14 and it honestly sucks. 
Cancer sucks, and I’m so so sorry you have to deal with this. Sending hugs your way and don’t give up.
