Is Boiling Absolutely Necessary?

So whOOPS as if my trip wasn’t hard enough, struggling with having no trash can and being a beginner with cups... I messed up again. ^^

Do I absolutely have to boil it before my first time? I got my SckoonCup in the mail right before I left, and completely forgot to boil it.

Of course, I’d boil it as soon as I get home from my trip, but am I going to suffer or get some serious illness/infection from not boiling it the first time? I’ll wash it thoroughly in hot water and with a cleanser before I use it.

(And if anyone’s wondering why I can’t boil it, you can get details in a previous post of mine, I’m in a stranger’s house and I have no idea how comfortable they are with me boiling my cup in their kitchen)
