Baby “hates” Grandma?

C 💕

Has anyone’s little one done this? Or something similar.

My son is 4 months and is generally a pretty happy baby. He smiles at everyone, even random people in the store who talk to him. He only really gets cranky when he’s hungry or sleepy.

Over the past 2 months my boyfriend’s mom has come to visit at least once a week, and each time our son has screamed bloody murder.

He will be perfectly fine, laughing and playing with us. Then she’ll walk in and start talking to him or even just look at him and he loses his shit. She’ll pass him back to one of us and he’s fine again, if she’s out of eyesight. He isn’t like this with ANYONE else, even the people he’s only seen two or three times.

At first i thought it was just because she came around the time he was hungry/tired but she’s come over at different times of the day, after nap time and lunch, in the morning after breakfast. No matter when she comes, he flips his lid.

Any ideas why? I’m sure he’ll grow out of it, but it stresses me out when she comes to visit because he becomes inconsolable. And I don’t want to tell her not to visit her only grandchild lol. She’s usually only over for an hour or two, and after about thirty minutes I take him back and soothe him and then turn him to face grandma so she can talk to him while I keep him calm, but that doesn’t seem to work.

She’s tried feeding him, walking around with him, rocking him, bouncing him on her knee, talkin to him, none of it works.
