Should they have removed the twin? Would you?

Say you had a child like this, would you be able to remove the twin... without knowing if it could feel or was capable of thought? I fell into a google search hole and I came across this. I saw they removed the other head and it made me feel really weird that this other being could have been a person capable of feelings. ***I also watched the video and the second head was crying after birth. Separate from Manar, the twin with the body

The life expectancy would not have been great either way, and the quality of life would be impossible to fathom. It sounds as though they weren’t equipped to do the procedure as they though but their hearts were in the right place. It wasn’t a whole twin, and with basic motor function, it was only a few functional nerve endings connected to incomplete features. Incredibly sad, and it would be a difficult decision for any parent to make.

Yes I would have removed the other head.. whether she was capable of feelings or not. Its not fair for the other one to literally live with their sibling on their head. I would hope they would remove the other one with intentions of her staying alive but I wouldn’t expect her to survive. Its sad but both would die any other way.

This is a really sad story. I can’t imagine having to make a decision like this. I think removing the second head was probably the best decision. Although this story ended very tragically, I think the second head could possible cause more complications in the future.

Honestly, yes. To give the one with an entire body a quality shot at a normal life. I think it would be cruel and unusual to make her live with an extra head.

Do you mean keeping the head if it were alive or dead? If it were alive, I'd chance keeping it. Why am I going to kill something that's living and my child? If the head was dead, there's no point in keeping it and it's a health risk.

There is no way I would leave them like that. The child would have no quality of life with the parasitic twin attached.

I honestly can’t even pretend to answer this. I’m sure this was not done lightly by both the parents or doctors. I hope I never have to make this decision.

I went on to watch the full documentary after reading this. They removed the twin with only a head and the full twin was disabled afterwards and didn’t lead a normal life before dying. She was smiling and seemed happier and more alert before the surgery. :( 
I think I would leave this to nature given that medicine couldn’t save both and only worsened the life of that of the full twin.
The other baby had a mind too. :(
