Contraceptive pill and PCOS?

Hii so I have confusion about this and was hoping someone could help please. So I have PCOS and before I got onto the pill I had very irregular periods like they would come one in six to eight months. So when I when to my gyno she reccommended I start the pill. Ever since I started Diane 35(combined pill) my periods come every month. It’s also reduced my hair growth around the face and greasiness in hair. But this is what I’m confused about. How are the periods getting regulated? Is it because I’m ovulating every month? But surely the pill stops ovulation every month?
How can your periods happen every month without ovulation? I’m sooo confused

Your periods are largely controlled by changes in different hormones. Some of these hormones are released from an area of your brain, but oestrogen is released from your ovaries. When you have PCOS, follicles don't mature into eggs, but form cysts instead (sorry if I'm not 100% right here I only have a very basic knowledge of PCOS). It throws off the finely tuned balance of your hormones which can lead to irregular periods. When you take the combo pill, you're taking progesterone and oestrogen. The way it was explained to me is that the pill 'mocks a pregnancy'. An egg won't be released, because of the high levels of hormones that maintains the uterine lining. When you have your week break from taking the pill, these levels of hormones drop, causing the lining to break down which causes your period. Hope this helps!
