Nocturnal baby...

Klhamer

I’m not sure if this is a thing... but I think my child has her days and nights mixed up. She was born a month early and is now 10 days old. She sleeps great through the afternoon and early evening. I even have to wake her up sometimes to eat! But around 2 am- it’s party time! She is wide awake for like an hour (the most her eyes are open all day lol). After a little while of being bright eyed and bushy tailed, she goes into this cycle: eats a little, gets drowsy, stops eating, starts screaming until she can eat more... repeat. I’ve tried holding her, skin to skin, the rock and play, vibrating seat... nothing helps. She will stay awake and be super fussy for a few hours- almost as if it’s until her next official “eating” time. (If she were on schedule.)

I know she’s obviously super young and we’re both still figuring this all out. I really don’t mind the late night fussiness - she’s a newborn, she gets a free pass. lol. Just wondering if there is anything I can actually do to try to get these cycles switched around? Or any suggestions to help her sleep longer through the night? Already doing lights and noise during the day and quiet and dark at night and I have a white noise machine. She tends to eat roughly every 3-4 hours.

Any other insider momma secrets? Or is this totally normal and will work itself out?

This new mom could use some help. It’s soooo hard to try to nap from 2- 8 pm when she is sleeping so well! Thanks in advance!!
