Mini pill and ovulation?

Do you still ovulate on the mini pill? 
I'm new to it so its all a big mystery

It depends on what pill you're taking. Some of them aren't all that effective.

No, it prevents ovulation. If you happen to have ovulation break through at random, the minipill has other things its doing to prevent pregnancy. It changes your CM to make it more hostile to sperm, as well as thins the uterine lining to make it harder for an egg to implant. As long as you are taking it at the same time every day, it's very effective at preventing ovulation. Some minipills only have a 3hr leniency for being late taking it, and some have a 12hr window. But if you want to be sure it's doing the best job it can, always take it on time.
