STAHM or go back to work?

Before having my daughter, my plans were to breastfeed, and stay at home with baby. breastfeeding never worked out for me and I was exclusively pumping for the first month, but I’m not anymore just because it was so exhausting to be hooked to a machine every two hours. The other day I was offered the front desk position at my boyfriends shop (he works in auto body) and I’m considering taking it. I just had my baby on 5/26/2018 and I’m not sure if it’s too soon or if I should go for it. I miss having a social life and it would be nice to have time outside of the house, but I’m worried about missing out on my daughters life and I’ll never get this time back. The position is full time 7AM-5PM and my boyfriends grandparents are willing to watch her everyday Mon-Fri. What do I do?

Is the child care free? Are the grandparents in good health and active? Are they going to follow the instructions and care you want or are they going to do the whole “well we are grandparents so we spoil and do what we want” thing. Are they up to date on their own vaccinations as well as things like infant cpr? Do they still drive? What’s the condition of their house? Do they have pets? By the time you add in drop off and pick up you’re looking at close to a 12 hour day for everyone involved. Can you afford not to go back to work? If you were able to breastfeed when was your original plan to go back to work? Is the new potential pay worth it? These are all questions I’d be asking myself if it were me.

I’m active duty so I had to go back. I did the same thing her grandma is watching her and it exhausting for her I mean she can do it and loves it. But just remember your pretty much giving them a full time job too. Also giving them nothing to watch your baby for almost half the day is pretty shitting for them. I would definitely offer to pay them something.

This is my opinion, your baby will only be a baby for a short period of time. I am working part time since I have had my children. I get the best of both worlds. I’m basically a stay at home mom and work 2x a week. Do what feels like that to you. Don’t feel pressured by anyone.
