Safe to paint nursery?

Is it safe to help out with painting when pregnant? We were looking at colors with the HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams collection.

I read you can add a little vanilla to the paint to help, not sure how accurate but maybe worth some research!

We painted our entire downstairs when I was pregnant last time. 🤷🏻‍♀️ we had just bought the house and needed to be done.

It’s perfectly fine in a well ventilated room. I’d just avoid climbing a ladder to avoid risking a fall - get someone else to do the high parts. We will paint our baby’s nursery this fall when we can do so on a cool day with the windows open.

I’m almost positive the HGTV home brand is low VOC, but double check at the store. You can get it at the Sherwin store or Lowe’s.

I bought some masks for like a dollar, and I'll just leave the window open while I paint in there 🤷 better safe than sorry!

It is safe to paint per my OB. Paint is not made like it used to be.

There is a type of paint for all the colors at Sherwin Williams you can buy that’s safer than the other formula and we used that, but I didn’t do the whole room myself and we had the windows open.

You really shouldn’t if there’s someone else who can paint and/or your finances allow you to hire someone to do it. If you can’t, then make sure the room has as much ventilation as possible by keeping all doors and windows open
