Fear of SIDS

I keep seeing this post on Facebook about the 7 month old that smothered himself with blankets and died in his sleep. And we all have 10 month olds and it just really scares me that it’ll happen to my baby and I’m paranoid about it and I don’t want to be. I feel like my baby would know if something was blocking his airway and he would know to move another direction right? I thought from what I read online that the chances of SIDS decreased at 6 months and didn’t happen after a year: opinions anyone?
