Have you started discussing delivery options with your SO?

On Tuesday I was asked by my OBGYN if I would have another c-section or if I wanted to try a vaginal birth this time. I immediately said c-section. My SO spoke up and started all this stuff about a natural birth, low lighting, minimal noise, keeping the placenta intact, not cutting the umbilical right away, not washing the baby off etc... I was shocked. For some reason I didn’t think he cared that much. 
I’ve had labor pains before. I am not doing a natural birth 🙅🏾‍♀️. He’s upset and says it’s not just my choice. 
What have you and your partner discussed?

I agree that his opinion matters to an extent. However, he is not the one going through labor and if you want medication to help with pain that is your decision. 
Birth plans are nice but we all know things don’t always go according to plan. Do what works best and is the safest for you and your baby when the time comes!

Also pain is kinda what we chose to go through when we have babies. I don’t understand the mindset of not wanting to go through labor. Seems a bit childish.

Why are people saying it’s a joint decision? Last time I checked the partner didn’t have to push a kid out of there vag after enduring 12+hours of active labour. Having someone to talk though the options is great and if they are interested in being there for you fantastic but at the end of the day you go though the pain alone. Whatever you decide, its up to you.  Ether option still makes you a strong and awesome woman. Don’t be bullied, do what’s best for you and baby. Goodluck x

My body, my choice. I was induced with my daughter and had an epidural after I got far enough along. The pain before that was crazy bad. I will be having an epidural with this baby. I would prefer not to have a C-section if I don't need one, just because the healing time is longer, but I have no intention on just dealing with the pain. The moment the numbing juice is available, put me on dril!!! Your body, your choice. 
If he argues with you, tell him that if he wants you to do this, then you get to do his vasectomy with no drugs or anesthesia. Seems fair to me...... lol

It’s a joint decision. Sounds like you should really consider your SOs opinions though. Natural is always better. We are going for a VBAC at home with a midwife.

Joint decisions remember you didn’t get pregnant by yourself I understand it’s your body but without him you won’t have been in this situation so let him feel included talk about it and give him pros and cons I was gonna c section but ideas upon it and I want to do natural now coz I want to bounce back as fast as my body can

While I see some things in that list that could maybe be a joint decision (the stuff pertaining exclusively to baby, like the cord clamping and first bath), how you deliver the baby is entirely your decision. Until he decides to grow a human being for 10 months and push it out his penis, he gets no opinion. 🤷‍♀️

My husband has told me repeatedly that he’s not the one who has to carry and birth the child so he doesn’t care how I do it 😂
