How soon can you take a home pregnancy test?

How soon can you take a home pregnancy test and it show up with a correct reading? I'm 2 days late and have been feeling different, having a few pregnancy symptoms but I took a home test today and came back negative..was wondering how long it took for any of you ladies to get a correct result on a home test.??
 hoping it's just too early to tell, trying not to get discouraged..

Everyone says to test when AF is due, but it can take up to 19dpo depending on when implantation occurred, how fast your hcg is rising and the sensitivity of the test you use. For example, if you happen to implant at 12dpo and have a 12 day luteal phase your hcg will still be way too low to detect on a hpt on the day AF would be due. I would test again in a few days if AF is still a no show.
