When should you test for best results?

I am 16 dpo and I am 2 days late on my period. I took a test yesterday and it said negative. Is it to early to test? Or is the negative probably true?

I didn't get a positive until quite a few days after my missed period and a lot of women are the same. It can take up to 12 days for implantation to occur and you don't start producing hcg until then. Your levels double every 30 hours or so but healthy ranges of hcg are very large. I freaked out because these new tests lead you to believe you're supposed to get a positive super early but a lot of people don't. At least 1/3 of the threads I see are ladies freaking out because they don't have a positive yet. I would wait days or so and test again. The longer you wait, the darker your positive will be

It could be a false negative I had one negative wiyh my last pregnancy and the two days later it was positive
