Renewing the Restraining Order

Hi ladies. I would like some advice on this please.

I am due to go to court this Thursday to renew the restraining order I have on my sons father since 2015. I’ve been renewing it yearly since 2016. My sons father is currently in jail since last year for violating the restraining order.

I want my sons father to be in his life but due to mental health issues I think it’s better to keep the restraining order for another year.

However I want my son to have supervised visitations with his father. Should I petition the court for supervised visitation myself? His father doesn’t want any court involvement, but I believe I need it for my sons safety. My son is only 3 yrs old and hasn’t seen his father since he was 4 days old.
