Is it realistic to start trying for a baby within a year of being official

Told the guy im talking to that I want a baby within a year. At first he’s like nah its too soon & so I scheduled an appt for BC.. I was lowkey so sad lol.... but now he’s telling me not to get on BC and to just let it happen. He’s been sending me alot of baby posts on instagram and stuff & last night I heard him telling his boy on the phone that our baby shower would be better than his (his & mine would be better than his friends & his friends gf). I have the BC sitting on my dresser, never took it & dont really want to but im nervous because he changed his mind so quickly.... this is just a little background but basically the main question I have is in the title... is trying to conceive before we hit a year too soon?
