Fetal Doppler, yay or nay? 🤔

Wondering if anyone has and if it’s eased your anxiousness/reassuring? Or has it just made you panic more if you couldn’t find the heartbeat? Thought please...

My doctor said she noticed it gives women more anxiety than reassurance because sometimes it’s hard to find the heartbeat and if it doesn’t happen fast enough some women tend to freak out.

I had a miscarriage in January, got pregnant again in February and was so worried that I bought a doppler. At first I panicked a lot because I was trying to use it way too early, and when I couldn't find the heartbeat I assumed the worst. Around 10-11 weeks I finally found her heartbeat and it eased my mind so much having it on hand when I felt worried!! Just don't worry if you can't find the heartbeat right away, especially if you are very early along. I will say now that I am 28 weeks I really hardly ever use it because I feel her kick and move all the time. So I only used it from week 10 until about week 22!

it is super reassuring AFTER ~12weeks, when it is easier to actually locate babes heartbeat. trying to use it before can cause a lot of anxiety since you cant always hear it. I love having my doppler and use it to check on baby about once every week.

There me apps that use your phone microphone to pick up the heartbeat as well :) I would use those in airplane mode if you’re freaked about phone radiation but chances are you have your phone next to your stomach all the time anyway wether you’re playing music for the baby or even using the app in your hands. Its like $5 for the app.

Only get it if you know you can control your emotions enough to tell yourself it’s not a big deal if you can’t find the heartbeat sometimes. I got one and tried to find it for probably 20 minutes and just gave up and a couple weeks later went to the doctor and he found it with his Doppler with in literally .02 seconds so it’s not for people who over think everything.

I tend to be more open minded about it. I do it more for excitement and don’t get stressed if I couldn’t get a good reading. It’s nice in the beginning but to be honest ever since I’ve felt the baby move I haven’t used it.

I love having mine. I didn’t hear a heart beat myself till I was 16+ weeks. Any time I used it before that I would keep calm because you have to remind yourself you are using an instrument that is of lesser quality than the hospital and you aren’t trained. 
Now that I am 26 weeks I can find it every time and it’s amazing. I usually don’t use it a lot either though because I don’t need to now that the baby moves a lot.

I only let myself use it once a week otherwise I would probably do it obsessively.
