TTC after 40?

What are your opinions on conceiving after 40 and your SO is in their late 50s and he already has 4 grandchildren and another on the way?

You may never get this chance if you keep waiting, do it! I wanted kids young but I admire those who decided to live their lives first. Who cares if he has grandkids, that's just more family to love on your precious baby. I hope you conceive and have a happy healthy pregnancy!

I'm going to be 43 and ttc my first. I see nothing wrong with it. People are a lot healthier today and are living longer. More people are having babies in their forties. Good luck!

It's a very personal decision, and I don't mean to discourage you if that's what you really want. You have to think ahead, though. My hubby's parents were 42 and 50 when they had him. They were already grandparents. They weren't able to be very active when my hubby was growing up. My FIL passed away before hubby was even 30, and 3 of our 4 kids never got to know him. Now my MIL is almost 81 and needs a lot of help, while we are still raising a young family. Just food for thought.

Do your thing! For me, personally, I don't think I could. I'm 25 with a two year and one on the way, I am so exhausted at the end of the day chasing my boy around and playing with him. I can't imagine what it would be like for me at 40 haha. That said, my neighbor just had her first baby at 37, her husband is 30 and I think they plan on having one more. I think they are great parents. It totally works for some people to do it when they are older.

I think there is no reason not to.  my mother had my brother at 42.  he just graduated hs.  I didn't start having babies until 32.  I know it is a bit younger, but I have plenty of energy and much more wisdom and mon

I wouldn't do it if I had prior children because there are more complications/risks with pregnancy at that age, I would get less time with my child/children because I would have less of a lifetime left, and I would feel too old/run down to raise a small child. That's just me personally though.
