Still too early?!

I’ve been spotting for about 2 weeks so I called the doctor this morning & they scheduled me to come in this afternoon.

She did a transvaginal sonogram & no gestational sac was detected... but she saw an ovarian cyst on my ovary that is about 8cm. I’m not alarmed by the cyst since there’s no pain associated just extreme bloating.

Note: I went to the doctor right after I received my first positive on July 2nd. No sac was detected then either.

Is there a reason why I’m receiving a positive test result & nothing is detected in a sonogram? Can it still be too early on?? The app says I’m 4 weeks 1 day. Not sure if the timeline is accurate.
