Am I the only one who doesn't want a gender reveal or a baby shower?

This is baby # 2 for us. Our first child is 2 and we had a shower for her arrival. Everyone is insisting that we should have either a gender reveal or another baby shower. I feel like the money that would be used on these parties would be better spent on things for the new baby.  
Are any of you ladies not interested in a gender reveal or baby shower? Why not?

I was never interested in a gender reveal party. 
I had a shower with my first, but won’t with this baby. 
Around here it’s common to only have a shower for your first, and nothing for your second, which is what I’m expecting to happen.

This is my first baby, we don't want to know the gender until birth. 
Not only that, but people shouldn't feel like they have to buy the baby something, 
If you get invited to a baby shower you generally feel compelled to take a gift. 
People should have the choice, not the pressure and I refuse to put people in that situation. 
This is our baby and we should be able to provide for it. 
Plus I just find the whole situation awkward, like it's saying 
"Come look at me, I'm having a baby, buy me gifts". 
Nope, not for me.

We didn’t do either one for my daughter but I want to do one for this one since I will be our last. Just the gender reveal though, no shower. We’ll do something similar to a sip n see once the baby is around a month old though.

I’m only having a shower because it’s both pairs of grandparents first grandchild and they said they really want to have one for the baby. Plus all my siblings and my hubbys are so excited for their niece to come into the world, I feel bad taking that away from them.

I’m having a baby “sprinkle” for my 2nd baby, just because it is a girl and my 18 month old is a boy. Plus she is the first girl
born on my husbands side in decades. A family friend & husband insisted I do one, so the family friend is throwing it. I have registry but it is mostly bows, clothes and diapers.

Where I come from you only get one baby shower for your first! You can have a gender reveal but it’s greedy to have a second baby shower...... the only accept ion is if it’s not with the same partner and his family wants to celebrate.... which is the case for me. I was a single mom with my daughter for 6 years and it took this long to find me right and have a baby. It will be his families first grandbaby so we are having a pregger Kegger for him that will be co-Ed
