Anyone with experience
With tenant/ landlord laws.
My and my dads lease just arrived to be signed and sent back to the landlord.
It’s a 3 bedroom apartment in a very expensive part of NYC. The rent is only $750 what would be for a new tenant is between $3100-3600 a month.
We just got a letter with the lease we had just mailed them, was mailed back to us. With a letter asking who lives in each apartment in our building. Name and age.
The issue is my little brother has been staying w my dad in his own separate room. And my dad has a roommate in the 3rd room when I moved out on my own.
My question is, if my dad does tell them that my brother 26 years old moved in. Excluding the roommate cause he said he’s willing to move it it’ll cause any issues. If that means the landlord would want to add my brother who hasn’t been there his whole life, to the lease and increase the rent by over $2,000.
Can this be a set up to have for señor citizen who have a low rent control force to add anyone so they can either move (due to increase in rent) or raise the rent due to my brother living there. He’s temporarily there. And I can always move back in to show that I live there w my father.
Landlords are trying to do a block buster on all people paying low rent control.
Anyone with any information or leads to info for me and my family please leave the information down below. Thank you all so much. ❤️
