Baby won’t nap unless held?

C 💕

I have no idea why. He’s 5 months and it’s just started this week. I stayed home Thursday and Friday because I got into an accident on Wednesday. So I didn’t send him to my grandma and aunt to watch like i usually do. Now, they tell me each time I pick him up that he only napped for like an hour total all day. I thought they were exaggerating because on the weekends he will take 2 naps for at least an two hours each and then go to bed at 9 and only wake up once at night.

But the past three days, he will not nap unless I am holding him. I’ve tried just leaving him in his crib to cry out, I tried skipping the morning nap so he’d nap better in the afternoon, I’ve tried rocking him to sleep and then putting him in his crib, nothing works. I rocked him to sleep and he was in a deep sleep, mouth open and body limp. So I got up and got to his crib, still in a deep sleep. I laid him down and pulled my arm from under him and he was wide awake! I left him in there hoping he’d fall back asleep but it’s been 30 minutes and he’s still awake. He’s like screaming for a second and then he’ll start babbling and like laughing but that’s it. He did this yesterday too, so I took him out to play with his toy mat, and as soon as I sat him on it he started screaming and wouldn’t stop. When I picked him up he stopped screaming, rubbed his eyes and wen to sleep!

I have no idea why he’s suddenly not napping so well. He’s already passed that regression, it only lasted about a week and then he was back to his normal schedule until this week.
