Wow come on, how can there be a one answer for this kind of question?! You know how many relationships there are out there lol? How many different people having all kinds of ways of being together. You can’t answer this question for everyone. Sometimes it can work and sometimes it can’t 🤷‍♀️

I only talk to my ex because we have a child together. If it wasn’t for her id have nothing to do with him, not because it was a bad relationship (it wasn’t) but because we don’t have anything or anyone else in common.

For me personally once you are an ex you are 100% out of my life. 
The only exception to this is if you share a child/children. 
Without kids an ex becomes another stranger. 
With kids a relationship with an ex becomes purely business. 
But no, for me there’s no friendship to be had with an ex. They are exes for a reason, they were a person who at a time you loved and was special to you. That all dies when the relationship does.
